Throughout history we have seen trends come and go and come and go again. We cannot understand what we love now without looking at how it has been inspired.
The early 1900's where considered the "La Belle Epoque" and is considered of the Edwardian era, this era is the age of corsets, tea dresses and elbow length gloves. The 1920's was the birth of Flappers, emphasis on hats and accessories and the introduction of the first bra. The 1930's where the modest years, styles where simple and beach fashion became a part of the wardrobe. Nylon was invented and makeup became an everyday necessity. 1940's was a time of innovation, women where entering the workforce and times where tuff. Homemade fashions where the majority and clothing patterns became the majority. The 1950's was the birth of Jeans, Levi's dominated its way into the 1960's, glamour however was not underrated it was still a part of everyday fashion. The 1960's designed the mini skirt got rid of stocking and brought in pantyhose. Knit fabrics arrived with a bang and any article that could be made with it was. In the 1970's everything loosened up, ethnic styles became a trend and disco jazzed up everything from jeans to shoes. 1980's can anyone say shoulder pads? yes lots of extra padding and neon colors. Women where entering the workforce at a rapid pace and trends followed, women dressed in suits to clime the corporate ladder. 1990's where the grudge years, heavy metal and ripped jeans went hand in hand. Now we can see how the fashion in the millennium was shaped, although now we demand that everything be stamped with a designer label.

Victoria's Secret has fashion show in Miami Beach

So Victoria Secret had a blowout fashion show over the weekend, the show was 1920's inspired and gained rave reviews!!!They introduced the Black Diamond bra, it's a sleek and sexy bra that was designed so if your bold enough you can wear it with an open shirt. Model Karolina Kurkova wore the bra underneath a see through gown and styled it up with a leather belt and a lot of glitter. The Pink collection was introduced with a model sporting a recycling bag over top of a hand knitted bra and boxer briefs. Todd Thomas the designed for the show got his inspiration from modern day recycling products and the glam and style of the 1920's. But what is a Victoria Secret fashion show without celebrities? celebrity attendees included P. Diddy, Russell Simmons, Michelle Trachtenberg, John Stamos, Kim and Kourtney Kardashian and Martha Stewart.
Although the Secret has been receiving some bad publicity surrounding their "itchy" bras, the fashion show was a perfect opportunity to show off their latest fashions.

Vogue Gets it Right Again

In Vogue magazines latest edition they picked the 10 best dressed celebrities of the month, the list for November included starlets like Kate Bosworth and Thandie Newton. One of the major differences in all the outfits are the necklines, some are neck lenght high and others are very low chested. Rachel Weisz has one of the most unique neckline dress I have ever seen, the neckline begins high almost kissing the neck but trails down to meet the opposite shoulder. Necklines are important because they are usually unique to a person and their body type, how many times have we seen Nicole Kidman in a turtleneck? It has become unique to her style. So in a nutshell don't underestimate the power the neckline it can change your entire look and sends out a powerful messages.

Fall Fashion

So as per usual fall fashion is in full affect and this years colors couldn't be any better!! Firstly I would like to say that using red accessories on an outfit gives the outfit confidence, if you want to stand out this is a perfect little trick. Navy blue is also a hot color for fall its perfect for work and play, dress it with some black and your ready for work, dress it with some red and your ready for play. Ruffle shirts that line down from the neck to the stomach is also a smart choice it can also be very workplace safe or evening fun. The one item I would suggest you caution this fall are Capri pants, in my opinion they belong in the summer in light summer colors.
